Paper Submission
We invite you to submit either regular papers or extended abstracts. Extended abstracts will not be published on IFAC-PapersOnLine and are meant for dissemination of breaking results, ongoing or older work within the scope of the NecSys conference, or recent journal publications/submissions.
Regular papers (up to 6 pages, also at submission time)
Extended abstracts (up to 4 pages)
Submission guidelines
All contributions must be uploaded in PDF format through the IFAC Conference Manuscript Management System.
All contributions must be written in English, comply with the IFAC conference format, and follow the recommendation contained in the IFAC Instructions for authors. The maximum number of pages (including figures) is limited to 6 for regular papers, 4 for extended abstracts.
Regular registrants may upload up to 2 contributions. Student registrants may upload 1 contribution.
If you submit an extended abstract, then please contextualize the contents: e.g., why does older material fit within the scope of the conference, or whether the submission is extracted from a recently accepted/submitted journal manuscript/preprint. In the latter case, the original work should be duly cited. Extended abstracts related to peer-reviewed conference publications (previously published, accepted for publication, or submitted in parallel) will not be accepted.
IFAC Young Author Award
The IFAC Young Author Award at NecSys 22 recognizes excellence in a paper whose first and presenting author is less than 30 years old at the time of the event.
The author of the awarded paper will have the opportunity to present the awarded paper in the IFAC Young Author Award spotlight presentation.
Eligibility
Accepted papers whose first and presenting author is a younger than 30. Exemptions are possible in case of past/current parental leave (please get in touch via email at necsys22@ethz.ch).
Basis for Judgement
Originality, clarity, and potential impact on practical applications or theoretical foundations of estimation and control in networked systems.
Presentation
The winner will be announced during the closing session.
Nomination
No self-nominations are allowed. Nominations are typically made by supervisors and need to be submitted via the conference submission site before 25 April 2025, using the provided template.
The final paper upload must be performed before uploading the award nomination.
Presentation guidelines
The conference will publish official Proceedings, which will be hosted on-line on the IFAC-PapersOnLine website.
Following the tradition of previous NecSys events, all accepted contributions (regular papers and extended abstracts) will be presented in the poster format. Furthermore, the finalists for the Best Student Paper Award will be awarded with spotlight presentation slots within the single track conference.
For presentations at the Poster/Interactive Sessions, all posters should be prepared to fit the poster panels whose size is 110 cm / 43 in (width) x 160 cm / 63 in (height). That is the maximum size for the posters.
Authors are asked to bring a printed copy of their poster. There are some printing services near the conference venue such as https://adagmedia.ch. You can order an A0 print from them via the link https://adagmedia.ch/adag_media/plakat-a0.html. Please keep in mind that their "express" service may not be available for everybody: please place your order in advance. Authors need to arrange their printing with them independently; it is not a service offered by the conference organization.
If a paper (or extended abstract) is accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the conference and present the work.
